Thinking about a blow-dry brush set, or just want to get the most out of yours? This is your complete guide: what they are, how they work, and how to get salon results at home.
What is a blow-dry brush set?
A blow-dry brush set is a system of detachable barrels and a handle that you use with your own hairdryer to create a smooth, bouncy blowout. The Blowout Authority's CurlME sets come with a range of barrel sizes so you can create everything from tight curls to loose, voluminous waves.
How does it work?
The barrels aren't heated. You blow-dry each section with the brush until it's dry, then roll it up onto the barrel and let it cool to set the shape before unwinding. Because the heat comes from your moving dryer rather than hot metal, your hair gets far less direct heat than from tongs or straighteners.
What's in a set?
Sets range from 6 barrels up to 18, plus a detachable handle (or two) and clips. Bigger sets suit thicker or longer hair, or anyone who wants more size options. See which set suits your hair type.
Choosing your barrel sizes
Smaller barrels make tighter curls and add volume; larger barrels give loose waves and big bounce. Full breakdown in our barrel size guide.
How to use it
Rough-dry to around 70–80%, section, dry each section fully with the brush, roll up, cool, unwind. Step-by-step in how to use a blow-dry brush set, and avoid the 7 common mistakes.
Caring for your set
Remove loose hair from the barrels, wipe with a slightly damp cloth, and let them dry fully before storing. There's nothing electrical to worry about.
Is it right for me?
